Our company history

1990

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Lutz Kurth, a graduate engineer, started a sales agency for drilling and well equipment.

Setting up our own workshop for the serial production of the KB10

Product range expanded with the addition of multi-purpose drilling rigs MBL

2000

  • Transformation of the company into an engineering office for drilling and well equipment

  • Production of the first KB10 - a small drilling machine weighing 1 ton

  • Development of the KB20 small drilling rig

  • Development of the modular system for small drilling technology

  • Relocation to the new location at the Kohnstein Bridge in Niedersachswerfen

Development of the LBL1200 lightweight drilling rig and the corresponding modular system

  • 10th company anniversary with a large in-house trade fair and over 200 guests

  • Further development of the KB20 for geothermal drilling

  • Development of the KB30 drilling rig and its delivery to the German Armed Forces for use in Afghanistan

  • Establishment of business relations with the Russian company Strojdormash

  • Development of the UWB30 drilling rig specifically for the Russian market

  • Development of the KB13 small drilling rig

  • First-time participation in the BAUMA trade fair

Expansion of business relations in the Baltic economic area

  • Relocation to the current location on Hanewacker Street in Nordhausen

  • Optimization of production processes, expansion of the company structure to 25 employees

  • Manufacturing and delivery of larger quantities

  • Development of accessories for hydraulic and flushing pump units

2010

  • Introduction of the new KB25 device type, first delivery to Australia

  • Development of the KB13 for geotechnical applications in core drill heads, hydraulic hammers and ram probes

  • Farewell to Lutz and Ursula Kurth as they enter retirement

  • Mr. Dirk Krueger takes over as managing director

  • Expansion of the repair and service offerings, including modifications and upgrades of third-party devices.

  • Acquiring new customers in Scandinavia and Africa

After a two-year hiatus, former locksmith and industrial foreman Lothar Kaufhold takes over the technical management of the Kurth company.
